Assignment
16A – What’s Your Secret Sauce?
Five ways in which I have human
capital that is truly unique:
1.
Independence
– I have always been highly independent. I am the most motivated when carrying
out my own ideas and goals. I love being my own boss, which is not the best
thing at times.
2.
Emotional
Intelligence – I am hyper-aware of my own competencies and inefficiencies, and
how I interact with other people.
3.
Perseverance
– I am able to push through tough situations. When everything seems to be
working against me, I think about what I can learn from the situation instead
of giving up. I know that everything happens for a reason and am therefore able
to persevere.
4.
Resilience
– I am able to bounce back after failures. I actually love the come-back; I
love proving people wrong when they underestimate me. If I come up short, I
will come back even stronger than before.
5.
Highly
analytical – I like to analyze every detail of every situation. I like to know
why things happen the way they do. I like to know why people are the way they
are and why they say what they say. This causes me to be compassionate towards
people when I understand their background and why they are the way they are.

Reflection:
I think
the way I see myself and the way others see me are generally the same, but I
think they were slightly weirded out by the context of the assignment to go
into any real detail. The one major similarity between all five people was my intelligence.
I think that I am an extremely private person so the things I think about
myself and the things other people think are slightly different. However, my
parents and my sister know me the best so their answers are the closest to mine.
I wouldn’t make any corrections to my list but might add another characteristic
of myself which is my loyalty. I think it takes a lot for me to be disloyal to
someone or something.
I agree with you on the weirdness of the assignment, its strange and uncommon to be asked what others think of you. For most people I'm sure the answers of interviews with family members will be similar to how you see yourself.
ReplyDeleteHey Hope,
ReplyDeleteI think that it is great that you feel the same about yourself as your family and friends do. Also being loyal is a great characteristic to have because many people will trust you. I also had one think that was the same as yours in that the people that knew you the best had the most answers closest to your own. Nice work!
Hey Hope. I think its great and incredibly helpful that you are aware of your strengths and weaknesses as a person. That will help you in so many different ways throughout your life both in and outside of work. This allows you to know what you need to work on so you can become a better, more well-rounded individual. This quality that you have probably explains why your interviewees' opinions about you are similar to your own. Overall, all the qualities you listed are great.
