Assignment
3A – Your Entrepreneurship Story
I have always been interested in the
way individuals can pioneer their own life, change the way we do things, and
solve the world’s problems. My dad is an entrepreneur in that he left his job as
a vice president of a large company to branch off and start his own defense
contracting company. My first entrepreneurial venture as a kid (not unlike many
others my age) was a lemonade and chocolate chip cookie stand in my
neighborhood with my sister. As a kid I also designed and created my own
magazines about dance, and tried to choreograph an entire ballet with my
friend. I was always starting creative ventures of my own, but when I did them
with other people I found that they always gave up as soon as it became
difficult.
I decided to take this class because
I have a dream of one day starting my own company. I’m hoping it will give me
the knowledge and the push that I need to one day turn it from a dream into a
reality. In just the first couple weeks of class I have already been inspired
by the things I’ve learned. Oftentimes we think that entrepreneurship is too
complicated or too hard when in reality we just need to go out there and make it happen.
(This is the book that has recently inspired me even more to be an entrepreneur)
Hope, it is nice to see that I was not the only who sold lemonade and cookies at a stand in my neighborhood as a young child. I cannot say that I actually remember how much money I made by doing so but I can say it was definitely the start of my entrepreneurial career. Additionally, I too look forward to learning and applying more about how to make it happen in business this semester.
ReplyDeleteWow its cool that you're able to have first hand experience in your family with entrepreneurship. I sold lemonade and art work as a kid. I'm sure with how motivated you are and the experience and knowledge you'll get from the class you'll be able to make your dreams come true. Starting a company can be a lot of work but i'm rooting for you!
ReplyDeleteHope,
ReplyDeleteIt's great to see that you already have a role model in your father for how to be an entrepreneur, and you already have basic experience in selling your own products. I have to ask, what field are you looking to start a business in? Would you like to follow into the defense contracting industry or dive into something completely different?
Hope,
ReplyDeleteAfter reading your entrepreneur story it was interesting to see that our dad is an entrepreneur too. When I was younger I also was always looking for money and I would also sell lemonade and cookies in my neighborhood. Although it wasn't tough it did start my entrepreneur career. Overall I do not have anything to complain about in this post. Great Work
